Company Profile

DFM Engineering, Inc. was founded in 1979 by Dr. Frank Melsheimer, a highly recognized authority in telescope design and manufacturing.  DFM develops innovative astronomical solutions for space research and optical communication. With a 45-year long heritage of innovation, our small business has become a global leader in this field. DFM Engineering has the effective solutions needed today to unlock the technology of the future.

Key to the success of the company is the lifetime of photonics experience that our President and Chief Engineer, Dr. Frank Melsheimer, has in designing, building, and testing research grade telescopes, retrofitting and rebuilding older telescopes, instrumentation, and control systems.  His expertise and guidance in daily business operations at DFM continues to assure quality products and customer satisfaction.

Dr. Melsheimer and his team have designed, manufactured and installed over 100 professional telescopes worldwide. Always a front runner in the astronomical community, DFM has evolved to offer a wide selection of telescope systems and upgrades, optical serviceselectro-optical-mechanical-systemsinstrumentationlidar componentssatellite trackers, and observatory design consulting.
