Rowan University buys DFM CCT-16 Telescope |
| |
| |
Rowan University in
Glassboro, New Jersey has built a new four story state-of- the-art science
building incorporating an observing deck, a class room, and a domed observatory housing the new DFM
16-inch telescope.
Small portable telescopes can be setup on the observing
deck to provide additional observing capabilities, support astronomy courses, create public outreach,
and offer excellent opportunities for student research.
The observatory floor is one
floor above the observing deck while the telescope control console is located in the observing deck
level classroom.
There is a flight of stairs going up into the dome and a wheel chair lift to provide handicapped
access to the observing floor. |
 |
Access to the rooftop observing facility is provided by an
elevator from the lower floors of the building. |

|
Utilizing an IBM compatible computer with multiple displays and a
keyboard, we achieve continual position display, status reporting, and an easy-to-use, menu-driven
command set.
DFM Engineering also routinely works with our customers to define the pier
and dome requirements to allow the installation and proper operation of the telescope. |
